About

A Malaysian creative studio that earns its keep.

ARORA is a boutique creative agency in Malaysia. Since 2014, we've been a multi-craft studio working across websites, mobile apps, video, 3D character animation, and branding for Klang Valley businesses and brands across the region. Senior-led, end to end. No account layer, no hand-offs to juniors, no padding for management you don't see.

How ARORA started

A studio that left the agency model.

In 2014, Adam Noh and a small team of designers and developers walked out of the Malaysian agency machine. Too many account layers, too many hand-offs, too many polished decks for clients who never saw the actual people doing the work. The frustration wasn't the workload. It was watching good ideas die three rooms away from the people commissioning them.

The studio that became ARORA was set up to fix that problem locally. One rule: every client speaks to the creative director and the lead designer on their project. Every meeting. Every brief. Every revision. No exceptions. That rule still holds, twelve years later, across every engagement we run from our base in Setia Alam.

We started narrow. Website design and a little branding work for Malaysian SMEs. As clients grew and asked us for more, the practice expanded into mobile app development, video production, and 3D character animation. By 2017 the multi-craft studio model was set. Today it's still the same five crafts, built in-house, designed to fit together.

The middle problem

What we noticed about Malaysian SMEs.

After a few hundred projects across the country, a pattern surfaced. Malaysian SMEs were being served by two kinds of vendor, and neither one was working. On one side, freelance shops and Fiverr-tier studios producing template websites with logos slapped on top. On the other, traditional advertising agencies quoting RM150,000 for a website that should have shipped at RM25,000, with a third of the budget going to layers of account management nobody asked for.

The middle was empty. There was no Malaysian creative studio operating at boutique-studio prices with senior-led craft. That gap is where ARORA sits, and it's where most of our clients find us. They've quoted three agencies, all wrong band for their business, and we're the first call where the numbers match the work.

We work with Klang Valley SMEs and growth-stage brands typically between RM2 million and RM50 million revenue. F&B groups, property and hospitality brands, B2B service businesses, fintech startups raising Series A or B. The brief patterns are now familiar enough that we can scope a project on the first call, not the third.

Why five crafts

A brand lives across surfaces.

A logo that wins on Behance can die on a Bangsar shopfront. A mobile app design that reads beautifully in Figma can frustrate users on a five-year-old Samsung. A corporate video that screens well on a colour-graded 4K monitor can be unwatchable cropped vertical for TikTok. Each craft has its own discipline, and most studios specialise in one. Clients then juggle three or four vendors and hope the brand survives the gap between them.

ARORA was built around the opposite premise. One studio, five crafts (website design, mobile app development, video production, 3D character animation, and branding), one cohesive brand system, one creative director keeping it aligned. The advantage shows up most clearly when a client commissions a website and a launch video in the same quarter, or a brand identity and the app it runs on, and the work reads as one thing without anyone having to fight for it.

It also keeps our quotes honest. Every craft we offer is built in-house. We don't subcontract video to a freelancer and mark it up 40%. If we can't do the work ourselves, we'll tell you on the discovery call and recommend someone who can.

A timeline

Twelve years of doing the work.

A short history of the studio. Same model now as on day one: small team, senior-led, every project ends with the client owning what we made.

2014
ARORA begins

Adam Noh and a small team leave the big-agency model and set up a boutique creative studio in the Klang Valley. One rule: every client speaks to the people who do the work, every time.

2017
Five crafts under one roof

Website design and branding expanded to include video production, 3D character animation, and mobile app development. The multi-craft studio model takes its current shape.

2020
Klang Valley to the region

Roster grows beyond KL and Selangor into Penang, Johor, Sabah, and Singapore. Hybrid working becomes the default: in-person where it helps the project, remote where it doesn't.

2025
Best UI/UX Design Award

Recognised for the rebuild of a Malaysian fintech platform. The win confirms what the studio has argued for a decade: boutique creative studios in Malaysia can out-craft larger agencies on the projects that matter.

2026
Where we are today

Based in Setia Alam, Shah Alam. Working primarily with KL and Selangor businesses across websites, mobile apps, video, 3D animation, and branding. Same model as 2014: small team, senior-led, end to end.

Award-winning design studio

Best UI/UX Design Award 2025 for our rebuild of a Malaysian fintech platform. Recognition for what we've argued for twelve years: a boutique studio model out-crafts larger agencies on the projects that matter.

Senior-led, every brief

Every engagement is run by our creative director and lead designer in person. No account managers, no hand-offs to juniors halfway through, no agency-layer markup. You work with the people who actually make the work.

Klang Valley to the region

Studio in Setia Alam, Selangor. Primarily working with Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley businesses, but our roster also includes Penang, Johor, Sabah, Singapore, and Southeast Asia. Same craft, regardless of geography.

How we work

Discovery first, decisions slow, ship fast.

Every engagement starts with a 30-minute discovery call on Google Meet. No pitch deck, no scripted upsell. We ask three things: what are you trying to do, what's blocking you, what would success look like in six months. If we can help, we'll come back with a candid proposal within one working day. If we can't (wrong brief for us, wrong studio for you), we'll say so on the call and recommend somewhere better.

The discovery phase before any visual work is where the project succeeds or fails. We typically spend a week interviewing the founders, mapping competitors, auditing the existing brand, and writing the brief before our designers touch a pixel. Cheaper studios skip this part and it shows in everything downstream. We've watched too many SMEs pay twice (once for the cheap build, once to fix it) to recommend the shortcut.

Once the brief is signed off, the build moves fast. Websites in 4 to 6 weeks. Mobile app MVPs in 8 to 12. Brand identity systems in 4 to 10. Brand films and video projects in 2 to 6 depending on shoot complexity. 3D character animations in 4 to 8. The pace comes from the discovery work, not from cutting corners.

What we believe

Design that compounds.

Brand work compounds. A website built right today is still earning leads in 2028. A 3D character designed once renders across packaging for a decade. A motion system written once governs every video for years. A brand voice documented properly survives the marketing manager hand-over three times. We design for that compounding effect, not the launch moment.

This is harder than chasing trend cycles. It doesn't always look impressive in the first month. But three years in, our clients have brand systems that scale instead of fall apart. New surfaces extend the system rather than reinvent it. New hires apply the brand without calling us every week. The work earns its keep across years, not weeks. That's the metric we care about.

It also means we turn down briefs that don't fit. Roughly a third of the projects we're approached for never sign, because the budget doesn't match the ambition, or the timeline doesn't match the scope, or the client wants a vendor who'll say yes to everything. That isn't us. We'd rather decline a project than ship something that won't compound.

Values

What guides the work.

Our code, systems and source files are yours. You shouldn't need us to run your own business.
